DJ Roots?

How do you think DJing helped you become a better producer and musician? Also, do you think that it's still as essential to get started in music today as it was back then, considering things have become so much more digitized?

Also, props for being from Oregon. Would you say that's what gave you so much dopeness?

djing continually forced me to listen to music in a "club" setting, both my own and other peoples music. this is pretty huge. ALOT of things just dont work in that setting that sound great in the studio, or on headphones. it also gave me a built-in response meter of sorts; it made me able to listen to 10-15 seconds of a record, and decide if it was something i would play or not. i dont think these are essential, but they are really helpful. and yes, oregon is solely responsible for everything i've done!
