ASCAP Information

Ok here's my dilemma, I have a couple of major records that are going to be released early 2014. I'm registered under ASCAP as a Publisher. I've received splits sheets that list me as the writer, will I have to register as a WRITER via ASCAP also to receive my royalties or my PUBLISHING registration is enough???

As an artist, you can only choose one (and you have chosen ASCAP). If you choose to open a second publishing company, you can go with BMI, but as a writer/artist your royalties will come through ASCAP.

The only way a song in your catalogue would be listed as a split between ASCAP and BMI would be if you co-wrote with a BMI writer (50% in each performance rights organization).
