How Do I get that live band percussion sound like jay-z and rick ross type beats? im hoping they dont use live bands in the studio because if so im outta the race. if anybody can help add your two cents.

um, yep, they have these people called musicians and percussionists that play these things called instruments

in the day it was the only way to get those sounds, now of course you can use your various sample players like kontakt or sampletank or what-ever-you-may-prefer to play these sounds either in real time or by mousing in to a sequencer to at least map out what should be played (some keep these versions as the final version)

take you about 10 years to master the techniques and instruments and engineering skills to pull it off by yourself or 5 minutes (and several hundred dollars) to hire someone to do it for you

yes, some of those records contain live instrumentation from bands, but if you can learn and understand what the drummer is doing: fills, rolls, flams etc they do have VST's like Addictive Drums and ezdrummer that give you more of that live drummer sound
