what are "points" given to a remixer and how are they paid?

Hi all,

If a dance producer remixes an r&b singers song, and asks for £2000 flat remix fee and 3 points.... how are the 3 points paid to the remixer? Does it mean that every time the r&b singer gets paid his royalties from his distributor he has to work out 3% of the sales revenue and send that to the remixer every time? ‎

Points = % Generally a producer will get 3-5%, depending on the contract and how it's negotiated it could be paid by the label or the publisher (whoever owns the work and wants the remix).

The distributer doesn't pay royalties. But yes, the producer is paid out of the royalties. Most of the time the label will push this responsibility onto the artist.
