Me and a friend are in the process of setting up a website with a music store to sell our instrumentals on.
One question that has been tripping is up, is do we need to legally set up as a business in order to do this (We are based in the UK). The law seems to indicate that the answer to that question is yes, however there is a lot more cost involved that way and we really want to start out with little expectation of getting a lot of sales in order to test the waters and grow naturally.
I know the laws are different in each country/state, but I was interested to hear if anyone else had any thoughts or experience on battling with the same question, and what the majority of other beat sellers do. I know if you were making hundreds of £s worth of sales a month the answer would be more clear cut, but It does feel a bit 'red tapey' if this is the case for the average producer starting out selling a couple of instrumentals a month.
