Selling exclusive rights. What do you do?

Hi

When you sell exclusive rights to a beat do you maintain partial instrumental rights or does the artist then maintain full instrumental rights?

It depends on what you put in your contract. You can even put "the Seller shall pay $1.000" lol you know what I'm saying

It's up to you. I think in most cases exclusive means that only the person you are granting those rights to can use the music. It doesn't mean you are giving up one hundred percent ownership of the music to them unless, again, that's what you want to do.

Another thing is some artist will sell non exclusive rights then some one will get exclusive rights. The non exclusive rights still pertain but from that point on no more exclusive or non exclusive licenses can be sold.

Sell the beat and after that sell stop selling the leases and so. Still keep up the tagged version for promo. Artist owns the song, but he cant sell the beat alone.
