Yep... for the most part, it's dead.
In some, if not most cases, live shows should be performed before digital mp3s are produced... The problem and benefit with today's music is it's digital footprint...
A hot beat comes out... OMG OMG!! everyone says..... Then everyone pirates it.... Then everyone listens.... Then everyone moves on to the next beat.... All the while, you don't get paid as much as you should if you're selling it.. And if it's for free, it's good promo, but it only leaves a digital impression, not a lasting one.
I'm not saying produce live, but you need live elements in order to market beats effectively.
