is sampling tv interviews, news shows, and ither programs of that nature illegal?

never thought about it but i was just curious if stuff like that is safe to use considering the fact that i never see copyright logos at the end. or maybe i've just never noticed.
 
It is more likely that you have never noticed the copyright at the end of such programs, but it is there and it will attract the attention of legal departments affiliated with the network if something from one of their shows starts to get noticed in a big way. So as with everything else that you sample, get a clearance first
