Sampling a really quick/small sound - Advice needed

Hey FP, what's going on today on this fine monday morninggg.

I've got a quick question regarding Sampling.
After living in Germany for 8 months and spending some time in Berlin (amazing city!), my new found love is Tech-House and I want to start producing it.

Tech House is like a more stripped-down/minimal version of Techno but much more melodic (hence the House part).
It uses a lot of samples/repeating phrases or elements and now my question comes to using samples.

Anyway, I listen to a lot of Hip-Hop and there's an artist who recently created a lot of hype.
I want to sample just a 1 second snippet of his voice, like a "urgh" or "grunt".
So would it be obvious where this sample came from?

I love the raw grittyness of this sound and probably wouldn't want to pitch it down or apply a filter but if i did so, would that protect me from any potential legal disputes. I know it only really matters if you actually release the track/get somewhere when using samples without giving credit where credit is due but I still want to do this right the first time.

Thanks,
9mmBass

The easiest way is to record your own version/recreate the sample.
