Market instrumentals or find a rapper?

Hey all-

I think this is an issue that all of us beat-makers find ourselves in. So I have 3-4 instrumentals that I think have a nice vibe and are catchy. From your experience, is it better to build a beat catalog and market that, or to find a rapper to rhyme over top and market the finished product?

I don't want to "waste" my beats, for lack of a better term, and spend time searching out the right rapper and such, if I'm better served focusing on a beat catalog. My overall goal is to transition into a full-time beat maker working with well known folks. I know it is probably easier to build a following with a finished product, but then I'm using up my beats.

What do you all think? Thank you

Build a beat catalog but refuse to be a type beat assembly line producer. Find some rappers that do nothing but rap e.g. they don't also try to produce, sing, etc. (unless they can) and also find some that have a legit 9-to-5 that isn't minimum wage e.g. no Trappers.
