The label was shut down in
2002 and was originally distributed by
RCA Records until 1999 when distribution moved over to
Columbia Records, which is now part of the same company as
RCA Records,
Sony Music Entertainment. Rumors report that Rifkind might buy back the label and revive the label as a sub-label of his
SRC Records. Loud Records is officially resurrected as an imprint for
Def Jam Recordings and
Universal Island Records.
