Importance of mailing lists?

Hey guys I've always been reading about the importances of mailing lists, did mine but neglected it while today after some research I got motivated to put in work. I promote it on my new youtube channel trailer like this:




Whats your take on email lists? If you have one, how do you promote it?

As a customer of some music products, I can only tolerate 1 email a month. If your product is dope, I'll keep checking on you. Don't stuff my inbox. A monthly pulse check may be okay, but I have neglected companies for sending too much mail...it kills my vibe.

SoundCloud and YouTube subscriptions are a great method to keep in touch by consistently presenting attractive content.
