I'm looking for guidelines for starting a music production label.

What's the best way to begin starting up a music label? What's the difference between trademark and a copyright? Any advice at all would be great.
 
I haven't personally started a label but I have a few friends that have. Usually they're pretty organic and come from things they already have set up and have a following; like a night, a facebook group or a blog. I'd suggest for the best success maybe start small and gain a following in an organic respect! Someone who's actually started one will probably have much better advice though!
