The answer to your question totally depends on how often you find work in either field. You'll need to make great music and find people to work with on a regular. You'll also need to learn how to sell; epspecially since the majority your time will be spent in selling products, services and self.

Speaking on producer's view:It could possibly be easy ONCE you've got your feet wet(have gotten some hits knocked out)but it probably won't be easy getting in there though.Besides overnight night success can come down twice as easy as it was started.

This is just like any profession. No direction at you, but idk why people assume that being an artist or producer isn't a profession compared to being a doctor. There are several artsits, some good, some bad. There are several doctors too that wish to be the best.

Back to the OP, its all about how much work you put in and how much you want it. Now it may be more benefical to be a PRODUCER vs. a beatmaker (which many people confuse today....sadly) the producer will take the material he has and get all the creativty out of it. So his decission to put Mary J. Blidge vs. Mariah Carey on a hook could determin whether ot not that record sells well or sells badly.

Making beats is fun and there are a lot of talented people out there. But just like any other job people are trying to get exactly what you want. Architect, dentist, janitor etc.

Not hard at all if your motivations and endgame are realistic. Don't shoot for Lil' Wayne status off the bat, go after your city. You'd be surprised at the money and connections you can make.

Its not easy at all. If you like stability and predictability in your life then don't pursue a "career" in the music business. Best thing to do is get a full time/PT job until things start to go well for you and then transition into it full time.
