Question How do you make money as an artist / producer?

I'm curious how other people make money as a producer? Do you sell albums, eps, singles? Merch? ...do you make money from streaming? Ads? Do you lease beats/sell exclusive beats? Do you perform live shows? ...Or do you make money some other way?

You don't have to say how much, but just which areas are the most successful for you. I think this survey can help other producers get a grasp of the struggle, and maybe get ahead on it.

Feel free to comment and discuss below.

For me it's all licensing through Rumblefish, Getty and Jinglepunks.
Stop slingin Cds and get paid for real. License those beats.

I'm working up a budget to place my music on websites such as PMPWorldwide AND/OR work with artists who have a voice that want to put out records together in a major way.

I've been successfully leasing / licensing music online for years.

It has been rewarding but is also a lot of work.

I wish I could spend more time in the creative space but when you switch from making music for fun to making music for money the rules change.

    Yes and no.

As with any job there are things that suck but overall I enjoy it because I am good at it. (The business part)
