Getting Distribution For your Music

Wondering, Do you have to get signed to get distribution for your music in stores or are there other ways like buying it or using some other service? Somebody once told me you could buy distribution for stores but I didnt know if that was correct. Thanks!
 
No you don't need to be signed, it could help, but it's not something that is needed.
 
Well, for any type of distribution you need to provide data proving that your product will build profit for them.
Record sales, downloads, fanbase... the incline prediction things like this... They need to be able to see where the money is for them to get involved.

With a new artists (no client/small fanbase) who are signed this is a lot easier because the distribution companies will go off of the labels/companies experience and long business relationship. They know the money will come eventually.
