Most companies offer "Free" digital distribution. Digital Distribution is all fine and dandy as long as you have the marketing & promo budget + fan base to purchase your music. IMO you are better off self distributing your music through Bandcamp or some other digital delivery service. Owning your own customer database & fan base.

The downside to iTunes and the billion other online distribution channels is that you don't get the email, contact information, etc for your database & marketing efforts.

alkota it seems beatstars is doing something very strategic though. there one of the only companies hooked up with youtube to collect on all of your beats uploaded by anyone. its a big deal.
