Do Producers Get paid For Major placements on mixtapes?

Lex didn't make any money from BMF because it was passed through so many hands to get it placed. It's sad because people didn't even tweak the eq or touch the Project file got money from that and he didn't. Luckily it lead to more placements for him, but he is falling off fast.

90% of the time the answer is NO. Of course if that mixtape song later ends up on the artist's commercial album the producer then would get his money. Some artist won't even credit the producers on their mixtapes much less pay them and that's usually a sign of the artist lack of respect for the producers PLUS he (or some middle man) is probably registering your songs with a PRO with their information so they can collect whatever publishing bread comes thru via commercial radio, satellite and Internet radio. Some of these same songs end up appearing in iTunes under the radar collecting sales without any of the writers (that includes the producer) getting their due mechanicals on it. And then the artist go on club tour dates off your track and potentially get more bread without the producer seeing nada.

lots of fun...
