Copyrighting Music in Canada

I've seen everyone talking about registering their beats via US Library of Congress, but I was wondering if anyone here has experience with registering their beats in Canada and how the process works.

Thanks for the links, that cleared up quite a bit. In your opinion, would you be worried about officially registering copyrighted work? Or would the © Your Name Year format for establishing copyright online be sufficient. Also, would you recommend signing up for SOCAN?

in this interconnected ,social media driven, age, it is important that you guard your intellectual property carefully.

In most cases this takes the form of registering publishing rights at minimum via a PRO (SOCAN) and possible registering with any government office of copyright as well

do not under any circumstances register via a non-government entity as in most cases they are simply fronts to scam money from you to do a process (fill in and lodge the forms) that you can easily do for yourself.

paying an attorney to do bulk amounts of registrations is a reasonable thing to do as long as the fees required represent less than the value of your time to do the same task
