Copyright Under Legal Name or Business Name?

This may come off as a dumb question, but as I've learned: THE DUMBEST QUESTION IS THE ONE THAT'S NOT ASKED...

Anyways, when you copyright your beats, do you copyright them under your legal name or your business name? Or does it even matter?

I'd like to know this too. I think both are required. You might have to get your BMI/ASCAP first though. I'm not sure.

Filing Copyright (in the US) = Doesn't matter, as long as you use that name _consistently_, and have proof that you _________ (legal name) are also you ___________ (stage/professional name).

For BMI/ASCAP, they will want your publishing company name and a name on-file that checks can be made out to/cashed by...

(Disclaimer-- This ^^^^ is not "legal advice;" seek a competent attorney for that)

When I registered with ASCAP I used my business name, which is a properly registered DBA of my individual name.
