contract with a independent label

a start up label that has 4 artist signed (one is a friend that contacted me), has given me a producer contract for 3 years at 30% is this a fair share/good agreement ?
 
In all seriousness, if you are considering signing it you really should have a lawyer look it over.

Also: Keep in mind that most contracts are designed to favor the person who wrote them.

30%????? maaaaan. PASS. unless being on that label will get you popularity i say no. i know labels ask for more because they have more mouths to feed and they are a bigger engine but 30% is far too low. 60-40(you) seems better. hell i just signed a contract that got me a 70(me)-30 deal. :o)


and i hate, hate, hate, long lengthy contracts. i just got another one and its 15 pages long. WHY???? the one before it was one page. ONE.
