I was wondering, besides being an artist, writing, or producing, what are some careers in the industry? I know about managers, but I read an article stating that soon, managers won't be needed. I also know of A&R's, but I was confused about how they ever get paid, because all they do is pitch songs to the labels.

Sound design, software engineering, distribution, promoters, instrument design, on and on... there is the recording industry vs. music industry/business. Definitely good to have a gig on the side. Music biz a tuff nut to crack. You have to find a niche and see if you can make it happen.
