Can a DJ play any song as long as the venue has PRS license?

As far as I know, any DJ can play any song. BUT a venue is suppose to have a PRS license for commercial use to notify the publishing company (who will let the rights holders know) that their song is being played and which they can collect their respective fees. (its not a lot by the way)

Groups like the Associated for Electronic Music or AFEM are really trying to push venues to do so. I think more and more venues will have to have this license. They also need help from the government to enforce this as well which I guess is the hard part.

There is a lot of money not being payed back from this... like a lot.

Good question though
