Recently i have worked with alot of artist who always say they are short on money for beats due to paying for showcases, events that allow you an countless other artist to perform for a celebrity panel judge with chances of winning record deals money an etc. My question is, why is this becoming so common,an how come it is always thrown by indie labels usually with major label distruibuition. How an why are these people cashing in on countless of artist paying for these showcase packages that usually includes one set,500 cds with your song on mixtape, one bottle of champagne etc lol. It seems to me you can perform any where an buy your own bottle .Now im not sure who has won any of these contest over the years. How come i never here artist i work with who are famous say thats how they made it to me?

because they really don't know how to market themselves.. and they probably don't make good music.. if you're music is that good.. it takes 1 song to really capture a crowd and make potential fans..

No artist is his or her right mind should ever have to pay for the exposure that showcases promise and the celebrity judges part reeks of selling dreams.

I've said the same thing countless times to artist i produce for.The new showcase im hearing about is up north records signing artist with sponsor ship threw 24kmixtapes.com 24 k budget for first album for winner. Now im not an artist nor am i a manager. So i cant tell them whats what. But what i do know is if your paying 100-1000 for different packs in which alll artist are doing the same thing just different perks it sounds a bit off. Im doing them service by working with indies cheaply an freely on my down time for producing with big artist.SMh producers never get credit for reaching back, but artist will pay another artist hundreds an to thousands to perform for them.

Casino mentality. Some folks just don't know a particular game is stacked in the house's favor, some just like to play the game, and others believe they are the exception.

Let's start counting cards and break the bank, wait, we are the bank in this analogy...
