Spencer 'Spence Boogie' Grate, a Queens native, recording/mixing engineer and producer in the heart of New York City. During the summer of 1999, Spence landed an internship with the legendary Unique Recording Studios in Times Square. It was at this point that Spence found his calling, and knew he wanted to take on recording and producing as a career. That fall, Spence went to Five Towns College where he received an Associates degree in Business with a focus on Audio Engineering. After producing and recording for various artists over the next few years, Spence was hired as an intern at Definitive Jux Records. Spence’s dedication and hard work at Def Jux led to the company offering him an assistant engineering position, where Spence worked and received credits on a hand full of records including Aesop Rock's "Bazooka Tooth" and C-Rayz Walls "Black Samuri". In the winter of 2004, Spence Boogie opened up Mt. Olympus Studios in Queens, working with and recording numerous artists including Nature, Nore, Killa Sha, Tragedy Khadafi, Mac Motion, Dj Phantom, Solomon, G.S. Advance, Jus P, SC Productions, Why Gee, Asiatic, Amzilla, Nam Nitty, S.P.O.T. and Ed from Down2Earth Records, JOB of BeatCartel, Hands On Entertainment, Neek the Exotic, B.A.M., DreaTraxx, Ric Rude, Michelle, Dj Slim Fass, NASA, El-P, Cage, Aesop Rock, Murs, Mr. Lif & Akrobatic, Tame One, S.A. Smash, Hanger 18, Rob Sonic, Dj Krush, Dj Double D, Phase 2, Sabac Red, and C-Rayz Wallz. In November '09 Spence successfully embarked on his first European tour w/ S.P.O.T. of D2E.
