I was born and raised in Atlanta,Georgia(The S.W.AT.S) in the late 80’s.Growing up in the 90’s I was given the opportunity to experience the golden age of “hip hop”. Some of my biggest influences back then were artist like MC Lyte,The Wu Tang Clan, The Youngsters,Common Sense, Naughty By Nature,J Dilla, Phat Katt, Pharcyde, Outkast,Onyx, UGK, A Tribe Called Quest,Eightball and MJG, and many more.Due to lack of funds I rarely went to record stores to purchase cd’s.Much of my interaction with “hip hop” music came from tampering with my oldest brothers audio equipment while he was away from home. As a child I always had an interest for “hip hop music” but due to lack of knowledge about the culture I found myself chasing a dream with no vision.
I began pursuing music in junior highschool at the age of 12 years old when I started producing beats with fruityloops 1.0 and recording songs with a headset mic and acid music. Typically for an 8th grader my topics were whack, but determination, and education helped me to become a better producer and rap artist. I can recall purchasing an old record player which was basically dead technology, but possessing this equipment granted me the opportunity to purchase vinyl from an old record store(which is now closed) called Peppermint Music.(Located in Greenbrair Mall) The first “hip hop”record I acquired was Flipmode Squad(The Imperial) , and Black Robs~”Like Whoa Single”.Quite often I would freestyle over the instrumentals of wax singles for a recreational activity.
I released my first mixtape titled “First Time Eva” at the age of sixteen which gained only local recognition. After performing live at certain “hip hop venues” I begin to realize that Southern rap was perceived as relatively obscure and was not recognized as a real culture. “Original Southern lyricist” were underrated, disrespected, and rejected by audience’s inside and outside of Atlanta. Disappointed with this reality I decided to prove the world wrong by aspiring to become one of Georgia’s most talented southern rappers….
