    That's too bad.

It would be nice if people we could arrange some gethering channel where we could talk more dynamicly.

I visit one Serbian hardware forum and IRC channel dedicated to that forum( it works very nice ), and I think this forum could only benefit from IRC.

sure you can, ok I wasn't really trying to make a point, just had to mention it since I'm a IRC oldtimer. I've been keeping my logs online and searchable the past 4 years in a PostgreSQL database, mostly for my own convenience.

It's not that organised tho, topics are often really hard to find and to classify

Anyways, in conclusion, this is by far the best way to do things and FP has really mastered the technique! Props to Mano and smartie!

    Welcome to the club, boskovic...

i'm fighting the urge to create an essay on why we should bring back the "everyday chat"..or something like it

the basic notion of my argument is: ok you've weeded out the bad seeds, some people want a place to share other thoughts ideas that do not apply to producing/dj/whatever.. they have no place to do it.. would it hurt to at least try? you can't say everything was bad.. look back- the many "continue this story" threads surely brought a chuckle... threads about your kittens, and remember that one thread about the huge spider chriss spotted? my point is i believe that the good outweighed the bad.. and it sucks to let a few obstacles destroy what was great for many people. For me, a large part of what the site offered was taken away. But what do you do when your waiting for that brand new piece of equipment to come out? or the brand new technique to be demonstrated? the times i come here i find threads that just seem like old news: "How do i stop skipping?" "What is your favorite record?" "What is the best equipment to get" I'm not trying to say nothing new and interesting is coming up on the boards, it just seems like a lot of this is stuff we've heard of before. Everyday chat- something new everyday. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to advocate to not help the people who are new to this hobby.. but has anyone ever head of the "search function" Seriously, where's the controversy (any competition in the lyricism), where's the laughter (seriously when's the last time you checked the joke forum). Perhaps the forums need more "moderation" (reeeppleette where are youuu?) you've got great candidates in such active members as david lee, angelic, and mattu. I'm done for now.. maybe more later, i still have more points to discuss.

you all are lucky you got the "condensed" version

I spend too much of the working day on this board already so a chat forum would probably result in me loosing my job

However, shoe does make some valid points:

1, when I first came onto the board I'd see a lot of 'search the archives for an answer, that's already been discussed' answers to peoples questions. This is frustrating as it's hard and very time consuming to search to find the specific thread (and we're all lazy after all!). I think this may disuade newbies from contributing or staying with us. I do try to answer peoples questions even if they've been asked many times before (buy Technics!!!!). This brings me to my second point:

2, Moderation - shoe is right, there are plenty of people who haunt the boards a lot and they could be used to constructively help point people in the right direction. Maybe some more moderators who have been around a lot and can point people to the relevant old thread if the question has already been answered elsewhere...

    Just my $0.02
