Because the board would be plastered with pictures, which not only take up room (harder for dial up connections smartiehouse taught me) but also, who wants every kid who comes in here to get something. It's something to work towards if you really want it and dedicate yourself to the sight and helping others. Also, its kind of like a "gift" if you will, to the people who have stuck with the board through 1000 posts.
Not nonsense if you ask me
Am i right Mano?
The poster can host the the av on private space and link in in the user option section, besides that a gif 90x90 pixels would not take up more than 10kb.....
If anything custom avs would aid the growth and friendliness of the community, and IMO would raise the return rate of members..... and if it is a gift, thats pretty lame....1000 posts is a little much....500 is a little more reasonable.
why not just put it in your sig...but reduce it to 60px high
No. I want an avatar.
Actually Avatard are hosted by FP\
The problem is not just the bandwidth, but also the fact that we want to moderate what we host.
And YES it is some kind of reward for being on the bandwagon for a long time / spent energy helping in the forums (1000 posts)
Voila

I agree, if your really into this board then you wont mind waiting for 1000 posts to roll around, iv only been here for like 3 months and im almost halfway there.
