Point blank, people hate because their used to what works for them and are afraid of embracing technology. The funny thing is that drummers and instrument players were probabbly hating on the MPC when it came out because of sampling "Making it so easy" to create. people just gotta stick to what works for them I guess, and spend more of that energy creating.

This debate will go on and on and on. It's been going on and on since I first started using it in 2003, and will probably go on for another 10 or 20 years as well. Lol!

I personally love FL Studio. I tried the demo of Reason, Orion Pro, and a couple of others back some years ago, and at that time, FL got a horrible rap especially due to its former name, Fruity Loops (can anyone take a name like that seriously? LOL). Some several years later, it's now one of the more used production software programs out. So the bad rap is not as strong now, though its still hated... but then, I hear the same about Reason as well to this day.

And to think, I actually almost didn't stick with it because when I first tried it, I hated the interface as well and cast it aside. Something told me to try it out one more time, and since then, I've stuck with it, bought it out after trying the demo, and have pleasantly enjoyed every upgrade for free afterwards, a trait that sold me easier. I've been using it for years to make my beats, and to make my sounds as well. Reason is great too, though the one thing I didn't like about it as much was its sequencer. But that's my own preference.

In the end, it really is all about what you use, how much learning and time you put into it, and how great you make it work for you, whether you go with FL Studio, Reason, Cubase, Logic, or a set of pots, pans, and a kazoo to play with at the same time. I've learned over the years that there are kats out there that can make a lot of great things with FL Studio, and on the contrast, kats that have tons of "the best production equipment" and still can't do nothing with it. Just my thoughts on the matter though, and I'll remain an FL Studio user for another several years! lol

It was never junk per se, but until 3.0 dropped it did not have asio support.
    3.0 dropped in like 2001!
So it's been a good solid app for use with a midi controller for 11 years now.
There were still people making heat with FL pre 3.0 though.

FL Studio has earned a reputation as "noob" software for two reasons, mainly:

    1) It's easy to crack.
    Double-click a 2kb registry file. Crack applied.
Most idiots can't figure out some of the more complicated methods you need to apply to crack other software.

    2) It's easy to begin using without investing in other music equipment.
For example, although it can run using ASIO drivers, FL Studio is one of the few DAWs that can run using the same DirectSound system used for PC video games.
FL Studio has one of the best UIs for clicking-in notes, but the same UI that makes it great at that makes it somewhat clunky for processing MIDI played with a controller.

These two things combined lead to a high proportion of FL Studio users who have invested neither time nor money into music -- instant recipe for facepalm-level noob.

I dont even understand how FL is still looked down upon when it seems like 4/5 hip hop/rap tracks that drop were made on FL. Also it seems like the only people who care about what you use, are other producers. Since you're not trying to sell them beats anyway, who cares? haha

i'm pretty sure some other big names, Laidback Luke for instance, still make their stuff on FL studio.

    Doesn`t Avicii use fruityloops?

    I myself only use software.
Started with Fastracker 2 ,then mad tracker ,then fruitylopps ,then reason ,now renoise.
I know what i need to know to use renoise ,so i dont think i`ll ever switch from that tracker.
