Besides the run of the mill progs( i.e. Pro tools, Logic, Cakewalk, Sonar, Reason, FL, Cubase, etc[u get the idea]), WHAT are some other great music programs that are not as popular or well known, but are really good? Could be sequencer, combos or anything.

In no particular order, some of the great ones that haven't yet showed up in this thread:

    Reaktor (http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?reaktor4_us)

    Csound (http://www.csounds.com/)

    Renoise (http://www.renoise.com/)

    Ioplong VST Plugins (http://www.smartelectronix.com/~andreas/index.php?nav=1)

    FX Teleport (http://www.fxteleport.com/)

    AudioMulch (http://www.audiomulch.com/)

    CAMUS (http://tamw.atari-users.net/camus.htm)

    MidiJoy (http://tamw.atari-users.net/midijoy.htm)

...Although Reaktor really isn't that unknown, and the last two are for the Atari platform.

Oh yes, Buzz is very nice!

And ah, just noticed there was the frontend for Csound mentioned earlier, making the Csound mention a bit redundant.

While you're at it, check also Modplug Tracker at http://www.modplug.com/ - there's plenty of stuff you can do, especially in the drum department, if you are armed with some experience in an oldskool-oriented piece of software like this ... Depends on the genre you're working on, naturally.
