Need Help! Buying A New Synth!

Ive been producing for a couple of months and I just wanted to get some advice on some synths. I've been a piano man for about 12 years so I'm pretty good with keys, so I wouldn't mind buying an expensive synth. I also wanted to get a synth that not everyone's using right now because I'm willing to try new sounds. I started off with a microKorg and now I think I want to move on with some good string sounds, synths, electric bass, stuff like that. Would you guys recommend buying some VST's, synths, sound module??

I was also looking at the Roland JV-1080. I know its pretty old but its not that expensive and it seems like a good module to buy right away.

Also, do you guys know if The Neptunes uses real bass in their songs or do they use synths. I can't really tell when they do bass shots. I would love to know.

Anyways.. if you guys have any suggestions I would definitely appreciate the help.

By the way, I do mostly hip hop and R&B for beats.

i think the neptunes use both ,i know for sure they use synth bass cause they mess with the micro korg!!i use reason personally ,i would recomend it but you might get turned off quick with programming your own sounds for synths but it got a nice library of sounds it comes with!!!

Wow.. I totally forgot to mention that I have reason. I got it when I first started producing. After a few months of using it I got tired because the sounds were extra weak, plus I get a delay everytime I use it with my Midi Controller and I don't want to bother trying to fix it. It's just a waste of time in my opinion. I'll post a couple of the beats I make and maybe it will give you guys some better insight on what level I'm at right now as far as producing.

    wow!!!!

the delay is latency you need a asio driver try asio4all.com to stop the delay and you sound like a preset user and thats bad you should use the combinator and combine sounds and build your own synths inside to get the best out of reason!!!!but if you dont want that cop some vst or something!!
