I can't believe how bad they are. I remember a discussion recently about Guitars and some idiot coming in here saying how Konakt's guitars were equal to the Chris Hein guitars because the Chris Hein guitars use Kontakt's sampling engine. This couldn't be further from the truth. The guitars in Kontakt 2 are absolutely the worst I've ever heard. Each and every single one of them. There's utterly, absolutely no possibility of making any of them sound real. Going straight to the guitars left me afraid of trying any other instrument as I quickly found that Kontakt, like Sampletank, Sonic Synth, and some other modules, is all about quantity, not quality. In fact, you can see who made these patches and some were made by none other than Sonic Reality. LOL. They're the same garbage instruments that can be found in other libraries. Others credit Zero-G. They're equally garbage too. For this guy to come in here and compare these guitars to Chris Hein Guitars is utterly asinine and completely misleading. The largest Guitar patch is about 7 megs and most of them sound about like a piano. Not a shred of dynamic playability. None whatsoever. Just basic samples being triggered.
I tried some of the electric pianos next and some of them were passable, a couple that sounded realistic, but again, quality is not the focus of this collection of instruments. Organs were crap. They sound like synthesizer presets rather than samples. Next, the synths and again, garbage. Nothing about the synth presets was impressive. End of story.
This is the worst collection of instruments I've ever heard. I needed a capable sampler for the Mac, and even though I never liked Kontakt, I had to finally break down and buy it because there's nothing else really for the Mac. So this wasn't a total loss, but the instruments are the biggest disappointment I've come across so far. I'll keep and use the sampler, but the library of instruments will be deleted by tomorrow. This collection is unforgivable.
