    Building Sound Library. NEED HELP

Hey guys, just a quick question, I'm building up my sound library at the moment, I have a few drum kits, so I'm good on that, but I don't have a lot of money and wanted some good vsts and such. I'm debating Nexus or Massive. Which one do you like better? Or what are some other good vsts I should look into?

I'm hearing that Nexus is the way to go besides a lot of producers are using it too. You may want to check out Logic Pro 9, FOR $199.00 they'll give you a ton of samples, loops, Vsts and effects. Here is a post about free Vst plugins, just in case you want some for free. Hope this helps!

I would say Massive. 90% will probably say Nexus. I think Massive is the more flexible. The expansions for Nexus don't keep it sounding like synths only though. On the net you could rack up on thousands of .ksd files for Massive for free.

Apples and Oranges really. If you get into sound design then Massive is a lot deeper than Nexus but if you are a preset slave then Nexus with its libraries offer a lot of depth as well. Since I believe you are probably a preset slave (most are these days its all good) then I think Nexus should get the call. Another idea would be to look into the IK multimedia workstation bundle for $400 (or wait and catch a sale because these guys are always on sale at one or another but not right now) it gives you a ton of sounds a ton of variety and more often than not when it comes to plug ins I am using SampleTank to get a lot of different things done among others. For me having a sound library is about having a wide variety of sound possiblilties that fit with you but at the same time to not over do it. Don't buy everything out there but find a good handful of things that you really like. Even some of these free plug ins are really good.

With that $400 price tag I am not sure that it being a sampler (All be it the most powerful sampler on the planet) is worth the price tag alone when its only an extra $100 for Komplete which imo is where Kontakt's true beauty starts to show. Its a great sampler but imo the best thing about Kontakt is that it will handle pretty much all sample libraries and every sampler format out there from the hardware world so say you have some old S950 libraries Kontakt will read those. GREAT FEATURE and a big selling point to me as I have a bunch of Ensoniq disks laying around.

Free soundfonts are the business, plenty out there plus if you find dope ones a vst will sound like a toy next to it. Google is your best friend when it comes to finding free vsts and sounds.

I am currently in love with both Nexus and Massive. Slyenth 1 is also good.
