    yo whats good
i got maschine mikro the other day and i already made a few drums loops and chopped some samples on it... i have no experience with rewiring anything or importing midi from other daw's... is it possible to separately export the drum loops and the chopped samples that i have on the maschine daw and import them into the reason dr octo rex or nnxt? also if i do that will it keep the maschine sounds or will it replace them with reason sounds? thanks

Yes but it will make life harder for you. You have a few options. A) get a traditional DAW and run Maschine as a plug in in it and rewire Reason to it. B) Buy the rewire vst for $20 which is fairly limited but will get the job done for making beats if you can handle it. C) Upgrade to Reason 6 and export your drums from Maschine and import them into audio tracks in Reason. D) Buy Recycle (upgrading Reason makes more sense than this) and chop up your exported drums from Maschine and turn them to rex files for the Dr Rex or finally E) Load your exported loops from Maschine into the NNXT and try to keep the timing semi on point. I assume you have an old version of Reason because audio tracks are the best option here if you insist on using Reason with Maschine. Otherwise get a traditional DAW and use Maschine and Reason as plug ins in it.

Thanks for the reply... i have a mac, so if i were to get logic what would be the most convenient process to transfer the loops, preferably separating each drum sample into a different track

Well get a DAW that works for Mac. Doesn't have to be Logic there are a lot of DAWs on Mac. Logic will work but so will Pro Tools, Digital performer, Cubase and Reaper. I can't tell you what will work best for you.

    "Keep Mouse Button Depressed"

I've been using Logic Pro on a daily basis for the past couple years and I picked up a maschine recently and so far, I have found both the audio and midi "Pattern Drag Modes" useful when running maschine as a plug-in. Based upon my work flow, the Pattern Drag function out of Maschine into the Logic arrange window has been working most efficiently for exporting full patterns or instrument loops.

When I still need to edit my patterns in Maschine, but wanna have each sound sent to its own channel, I have been setting the Maschine up as a multi-output instrument in logic and then routing each sound from within Maschine to a designated channel strip which is relatively simple to configure in Logic Pro (the process is basically the same for almost all multi-out instruments, regardless of manufacturer) and then bringing those back to a drum bus.
When I'm done with my work in maschine or if I want audio tracks instead of just the audio sends for the individual drum hits, I have been using the export audio function in the Maschine menu to quickly bounce out my "sounds"/stems like I show in this screenshot and that has been working really well for me. I tried to show a bunch of the steps that make up the progression from Maschine to Logic's arrange window in this case, but if you're confused, or interested in me explaining it in a lil more detail, lemme know... Very quickly:
In the screen shot the folder "drum stems 1" contains the stems which I have already bounced and then dragged into my project from the logic browser/finder (I turned the maschine exports in logic's arrange window orange to identify them easily).

I hope this helps give you a couple quick examples of ways to route and track your maschine patterns.
    Dan

Yeah man, if you spend a lil bit of time learning how to use it, logic can do basically anything you need it to, and at $200, if you're on a mac, its quite a deal considering it used to be 500 before they put it on the app store... Hit me up if you have more questions about logic that you wanna know about before buying it.

I also should mention that in case you're not in desperate need of a new DAW, you may wanna wait, and try demo or lite versions of software from a few different companies and see if Logic 10 drops within the next few months...
