Exporting higher sample rate than original project rate.

I have worked in 44.1K for my projects in Ableton (conserving CPU) but want to do final mixdown in Pro Tools at 88.2K. Seems in the export options in Ableton I can export at higher sample rate than I am currently working in, I know this makes no difference in quality in regards to audio samples/audio recordings in my Ableton tracks, but if most of my tracks are midi triggering something like Battery 4 or Massive then I assume it be better to render out at a higher sample rate. Not sure how that would work though with my audio interface upon export. Anyways, does this make sense? Can I get the better quality in rendering out? It be sweet to compose with CPU to spare and lower buffer and then export higher-rez to another DAW where I can up the buffer and do final mixdown.
