whats a good multisampled instrument for solfware?

You have a lot of options there, usually including options in your DAW of choice. My own personal favorite is Kontakt from NI. I like the level of detail you can achieve including morphing, velocity layering and built in effects.

There really are tons of options though depending on how advanced you want to get with velocity layering and such.
 
I use ableton and reason and some times a simple wav editor.
I use reason to make reason patches and refills. i use the others for editing - changing the sound. Sound design is fun and theres many ways to get the job done im sure.....
