Not really that new. Been deleting their referral spam since I started as a mod.. Horrible marketing strategy, reminds me of a certain other "beatmaking" software/hardware..

The reason it was recommended by anyone is probably because they market the product based on affiliate sales. In other words, I sign up (or buy) DubTurbo and then I get a special URL that I can send people to. When they buy through my URL, I get some money from the sale (usually between 25%-75%). So now I have a profit motive to tell people that it's the greatest thing since toilet paper. This is an age old way of making money that to me is a bit unethical if you really don't believe in the merits of the program.
