what should i have everything set to when i want to simply do a drum track, when i play back my drum recording it is so off,??

quantize your drums with 1/16

and without any swing or something like that! than everything should be completly on time!

In the piano roll window, set the quantize option to "off" and further to the right, set the snap to "bar". Highlight everything you want to quantize and press the "Q" button.
