Fl Studio working with Pro tools??

Okay we know that Fl is probably one of the better composing software but what if you want to mix in pro tools. Sure you could export as a wav but even then that's a pain because it doesn't export at 24 bit or mono and then you gotta spend all this extra time messing around with it in an outside program. So can you use fl studio as an VST in Pro tools so your basically using it as a composer but your recording it in pro tools to mix. Or is there a composer VST for pro tools that feels similar to fl studio? I just need a better system/workflow for getting my tracks into pro tools for the studio.

    Thanks ya'll

Rewire. Open pro tools and you can add fl studio as an insert on an instrument track.

And in doing your turning that track into a midi track or sequencer track? Meaning would i have to do that for each instrument or drum pattern or once you have fl open in one track you can midi out to different tracks? what if you using wav samples for the sequencer??? I've seen a rewire with fl and reason basically allowing you to use fl studio as a composer with reasons sounds of course both programs must be open. Is it very similar to that idea if not the same? Thanks!

I know rewire comes with fl studio does it come with pro tools or is it freeware?

Well in my verison of ProTools (7.11 m-powered) it is called an instrument track. If you are familiar with putting effects on a channel, you can make it a rewire track.
I am rewiring Reason into Protools these days and not FL, but it should be very similar if I remember.

If you have assigned your instruments to different channels in FL's mixer<---(key part), then you can create multiple instrument tracks in PT and then choose which channels will come thru into PT via the rewire dialog in PT. So yes, you can, and should create individual tracks in PT for each instrument.

Okay cool. I'm just a little confused because the tutorial i saw on the reason and fl rewire. FL was the host and reason was basically in the background being used only for the sounds. All midi compositions were being generated in FL. Now with that said. I won't be Using FL as the host for Pro tools but the opposite. Pro tools is the main program and in the background FL will be running... which ultimately isn't what i want because then it seems like FL is only being used for sounds or reason or any sequencer. I guess what i'm saying is can i Make a beat in FL and have it play through the pro tools tracks when i hit play in pro tools. Except wouldn't i have to record each track first so it would have a wav form.

Maybe the real question is how can pro tools act like FL. I've heard that Pro tools has a lame midi sequencer. Is that what your doing with Reason? Basically using it's instruments in Pro Tools midi track?

    Thanks again!

No, but you can rewire fls to protools so you can track your beat from fls to protools directly. You can also use fls as a plugin and trigger it from protools via a midi to a fls channel...

    Get it?
If you f@ck around with the f@ck around, you'll get f@cked around with...

sounds like i just need to mess with it. I have pro tools on my mac and fl on my pc (obviously) Now pro tools doesn't work with my version of XP or Chip Set so i bought a mac. The work flow just sux and I'm trying to make it more realistic to compose with fl but mix with pro tools so as long as i can track it out into pro tools with ease i think it's a must for what i want to do. With that said, then i need to buy yet another PC.... ugggg... or just get reason for mac. I have a mac mini 1.4 G processor and 1 gig of ram would that be enough to run both programs including high end VST instruments?

    Thanks 4 da help!

if you have a intel processor on your mac you can install windows XP via a program called boot camp or parallels"pardon the spelling"

FLstudio rewired into PTMP is a cpu hog, at least on my computer. 2.16 ghz CORE2DUO, 2 ghz RAM. the two don't seem to function well together

fhinspectit: Damn.... What about reason? I have PTLE though....

And I thought boot camp ran by it self meaning you have to choose which OS you start up with. So you can run both at the same time like Virtual PC (which sucked). And using boot camp would that split all your specs down the middle if you have 2 gigs of ram then you have 1 gig for each OS etc etc.... Do you ever use the midi interface in Pro Tools
