Was the latest verson of Reason all it cracked up to be? What were the points that blew you away and the ones that made you wonder if the upgrade was neecessary?

well, u're are joking man, the new reason is flawless....man the new sequencer, a lot more easier then the older ones, , and the THOR, wat a concept, and its now even has and arp system too...and over all, reason was good before, and its the best now, and it will rule tomorrow...i love it.reason 4 is just a next step ahead, but i wonder, i i cud get a direct audio plug in in reason so i cud record my voice directly in it.and then sample it, in anything like intakt, or kontakt..well its a dream hope the programmers listen to it.

If there's one massive hole in Reason's game, it has to do with audio. Recording, editing, pitching, stretching, slicing. That's it. Judjing by comments over on the Propellerhead site, this has largely been an uninteresting update and the sequencer "enhancements" seem to have been a mistake. People are complaining about it across the board.

Personally, I have no problem with the new sequencer stuff. It's neither interesting, better, nor hurtful to me in Reason. It's just different. I haven't found the desire to even explore Thor, nor the Regroove as they're both a detractor from actually making music for me.

The props also seem to have "broken" the way zooming works in Reason so tons of complaints are coming in about that as well. Almost no comments at all about the Regroove thing. It's just quantizing after all.

I believe the days of "WoW, Reason!!!" are behind us. It's still a great product, but one with massive holes in critical areas, and good attention to detail in others.

There are warm synths as well!! The Minimoog sounds good to me, Vanguard is the coldest of all it really sounds metallic. JT's My Love sounded warm to me as well, I know the tweaking and mixing plays a big role too.

I dont think its worth $130. They could have at least brought in some new effects. Live is doing alot and adding features that their users requested. Reason 4 is not that great.
