Being a mac user, of course I would say garageband is a great start as a beginner and would be a great transition into Logic (which is the dopest daw EVER) <---Bias, i know HA!

FL Studio. You can use it for profressional works also. I produce my remixes and FL Studio and they have been played in many radios for long time. It is about yourself. It is personal choice actually. I prefered Fl studio to start and now i do prof works.

Well i might get ran off this sight for saying this... ( im new bare with me folks) but I think PT is Overrated... I have it, ableton, cubase, reason and Fruity loops and i use fruity loops the most just because it is fun and easy to use! So +1 for fruity loops! also reason can be fun when you get the hang of it! Ableton has the greatest automation i have ever seen and cubase is funto work with IMO! They all have demos im pretty sure just try them out!

Even though FL Studio looks like an airplane cockpit, it's still user friendly. I even still use it to make my beats.

By far i think FL studio is the best. It takes time to learn like anything else, but it is super easy after a while!!!
