i have to give the IK Multimedia their respect... a matter of fact... i read a heart warming post here on this forum about an individual starting out... he/she just brought the Bundle and Reaper and was very happy with their purchase... when you take a step back and think about it... that is a very nice setup... capable of doing a lot musically!!!

with that being said... to compare sampletank and effects to kontakt or omnisphere sounds crazy as hell... believe it or not... you get what you pay for... there are no "group buys" for omnisphere or kontakt... and to compare sampletank and effects to omnisphere or kontakt in my opinion is pretty silly...

next point... does the individual that produced the video own/have kontakt (not the kontakt player) or omnisphere... if not... how do they know if sampletank/effects can compete with kontakt or omnisphere... the power of kontakt is the 3rd party libraries available for it... i would love to see sampletank do what electri6ty, mojo horn, vintage keys, vintage organ, abbey road drums 60/70/80, modern/studio drummer, etc (kontakt powered library) can do... what kontakt powered libraries does the video producer own to make that comparison?

i could understand promoting a product... but the comparison with kontakt and omnisphere is a reach!!! and i do own sampletank, sample moog, sonik synth, philharmonik, kontakt and omnisphere/trillian... a matter of fact... how many times have kontakt and omnisphere/trillian been updated since sampletank came out...

question for the video maker... what is the most you paid for a vsti outside a "group buy" vsti...

because... that is the prospective you speak from... you use what you can afford... because, if you took a few "grand" and purchased omnisphere/trillian and kontakt/kontakt powered libraries you could hear the differents...

again... you use what you can afford...

    FACT!!!

no disrespect to the IK Multimedia family... i have been a loyal customer since sampletank was released... but if you spoke to the video producer 6 months ago... he would tell you he could do "everything" that sampletank and effects could do in Reason... just happens... IK Multimedia had a group buy...

ask the video producer what vsti he owns outside of "group buy" or LE (limited edition) vsti...

but he wants to compare sampletank and kontakt/omnisphere!!!

    PLEASE!!!!

When it is all said and done and you listen to a recording, I'll bet you couldn't tell if it was done with SampleTank or those other products. In fact, some of the more rare/interesting instruments will sound better in SampleTank form in my opinion (and I've had that opinion before working for IK and I have worked in the industry after attending a renowned college of music - not to drop credentials, just giving context - so I've had access to about everything that's out there). So perhaps you could tell but not because Sampletank is any worse, but because things like SampleMoog, SampleTron, some of the Sonic Reality rare instruments, some of the Xpansion Tanks have such personality. Add that Sampletank is lightweight and has a fast work flow and I'd say in my professional and personal opinion it rocks.

No I don't. I didn't say they were the same at all in fact I would say they are very different.

that is the "greatness" of opinions... we all have them!!!

i agree... Sampletank does what it does well.. simple interface, light on the cpu, tons of sounds, effects, etc but to compare it to Kontakt or Omnisphere is another story...

lets play devils advocate here for a second...

if the current version of Sampletank i.e 2.5 is all that and a bag of chips... why a Sampletank 3 facebook page? with your professionalism/opinions and all... you make it appear that the current version of Sampletank does not need any updating... Sampletank came out basically the same time as Hypersonic... Hypersonic is up to Halion Sonic... and if you go by sound... Halion Sonic sounds better than Sampletank... i own both... what patch in Sampletank is like VOODOO Guitar in Halion Sonic? i could go on all day... but i will stop here...

Selling a product is one thing... but making comparisons that do not hold water is another... because... i bet... if we got a room full of "professionals"... a large percentage would agree... there is no comparison between kontakt/kontakt powered libraries and omnisphere/trillian with Sampletank... i.e. 95 out 100 basically 95%...

Sampletank is "actually" catching up to Halion Sonic with the release of Sampletank 3...

    right?

i.e. streaming from disk, scripting, articulations, etc

i will leave it at that...

    have a beautiful day today!!!

I never said or even implied that it wouldn't need any updating. Seems there are words being put into mine and Kev West's mouths here, likely unintentionally. I'm saying SampleTank sounds stand up as it is now. So did AmpliTube 2 - no other sim touched it but we still raised the bar. We're not looking to copy those other products you mentioned, we choose to blaze our out trail like we have in the past and will far into the future. The only thing we emulate is gear, not other people's products.

And I didn't mean to upset you, but I'm not making up statistics - I know and have known pros that choose SampleTank for many different reasons and they don't get in rooms and do academic shootouts - they produce music with the tools they prefer to use for their own reasons. I found out after I started with IK, for example, that a long-time set of friends and professional musicians from Berklee who had migrated to LA to continue working 100% professionally had SampleTank all over their album. Just a random sampling there, and when I run into people I've gone to school with who now make their income completely with music most of them say they've been using IK tools regularly. When I ran into George Clinton of P-Funk after one of his shows he wanted someone from IK to come to his studio to help them get even more use out of our tools because he and many of his musicians think they rock.

and I'll (try to) "leave it at" the fact that many of these sounds do not get dated anyway and are the best sampled versions - such as SampleMoog and SampleTron. Do those sounds change? Do we need to resample a MiniMoog? Or hire yet another Moog artist like Erik Norlander and get their custom gear like we did with his Wall of Doom HUGE modular Moog setup? We keep him on working on SampleTank and other products for a reason and we are chosen by companies like Moog (yes they chose us to do SampleMoog with the likes of Erik Norlander and Dave Kerzner), the Hendrix estate (we are still continuing contact with them due to their satisfaction with our great work on a legend's gear), Orange, Fender, and an upcoming artist and brand that are legendary. This is why many artists tour with our Powered by Sampletank and Powered by Amplitube gear.

But put them together in a room, I suppose they might give you the statistic you've guessed at if it let them get back to creating great music and/or gear

not putting any words into anyones mouth...

in the video... Kev brought spending $1000's on kontakt/omnisphere...

what i am saying kontakt/omnisphere costs $1000s for a reason... and that is why you can get Sampletank w/ 4 other products for $200...

there is no comparison... that was my only point!!!

not upset at all... actually... having fun!!!

just prefer... a no spin zone!!!

again... you have a nice day!!!

just read the second half of you post... you are the one that seems "a little" upset...

    about my statatics...

grab the top 100 sound designers in the world... whoever they may be... only God knows... and take a survey of kontakt/omnisphere -vs- Sampletank...

i would bet that 95% would take either kontakt/kontakt powerer libraries or omnisphere over Sampletank... that is "my" opinion... you do not have to agree... you are an agent for IK Multimedia... i do not expect you to agree...

and if you did agree... you would not be an agent too much longer!!!

    right?
