The only Yamaha synth I can think of with a yellow screen, would be the S03....I dont know if thats what he's using or some ancient Yamaha board

I think like a MPC & ASR. A program is a tool. If the sculpture don't look right you don't blame the chisel...

MPC2500, Yamaha Motif, Reason 4.0, Believe it or not....FL Studio 8(still there for bangin out quick thoughts)

The Yamaha CS1X is blue too with a yellow LCD...

as for how to make something less digital and synthetic sounding... a bit of warm distortion may help. I used to get great sounds from a horrible digital sounding Roland XP10 by sticking one output through a guitar overdrive pedal and mixing it with the original for a bit of definition. Compression can help too but if you dirty the sounds up a bit that can help them sit better in a mix.

dunno what " waves audiotrack is" if it's a product made by Waves then check here:

Regarding deEssers - these are very specifically set up compressors that are only triggered to reduce only certain high frequencies - the upshot of which is that if you have a singer who is very sibilant i.e. over emphasises the "ess" or "shh" sounds then this unit or plugin can be used to reduce that part of the sound. Be careful not to overdo it though, otherwise it end up with the singer sounding like they have a lisp - though i gotta admit i find that kinda sexy
