    Whattup fellas

So far I use Logic pro, protools, turntables, some instruments (guitar, bass, etc...) but I'm looking to start picking up some gear and I need some suggestions. I'm looking for some vintage sounding rises and sweeps and some nice bass sounds and some just all around cool sounding synths. I'm not looking for something real expensive (like over 1000$) or something thats nearly impossible to find. I'm open to all suggestions (moog, korg, ensoniq).

I saw a microkorg synth/vocoder the other day and it looked intersting.

So you'd like a VA? What about the Radias module? It's around $700. Although I don't have one but it seems much more serious than the Microkorg. Or there is a Nord Rack 2 currently on ebay for 695$ Also the Microkorg has quite little keys. If you don't have a keyboard you can get a controller like the Alesis q61 for around $150 and you're still under the budget.

    What synth

Your choice will depend largely on what you want to do and the other things you want to connect to. Have you considered the Ultranova?
This is a reasonably priced synth that will give a wide range of sounds, a vocoder, and very good integration with DAWs as well. The Ultranova is in the same class as Waldorf's Blofeld. Both are capable of some very complex waveforms.

What you want is a MacBeth M5N.
