Using MPK 49 and MPC 4000 as Keygroup

if anyone uses the mpc 4000 they are aware of the keygroup feature and understand that a midi controller can be used for keygroups and played via midi controller when plugged into the usb port of the mpc 4000

i have an mpk49 and the mpc 4k and when plugging in the mpk it receives no power from the mpc whereas it receives power from my mac using garage band reason etc.

is there a setting i have to toggle or is anyone else having this problem
my friend had an axiom that he plugged in to get working perfect but no luck with this mpk

The MPC 4000 doesnt have drivers to support MIDI via usb. The usb port is for ASCII keyboards and storage media. You can power the MPK off the MPC4000 but you would still need to run a MIDI cable from the mpk to the mpc to actually use it. This man not even work correctly if the MPK cannot use its usb and MIDI out at the same time. Check the manual for the MPK.
