You could either get a digital piano (something like Kurzweil SP88x, M-Audio Pro Keys... are within your budget) or an 88-key workstation.

Most workstation users agree that the Yamaha Motif has the best piano samples, whereas the Korg Triton has the worst (I can attest to that!)

If I were you, I'd consider the Motif 8 workstation (the older model).. because you'd get piano samples + weighted keys + so much more for your money.
