playing voices from motif 7 to tracks on mpc 2000

I just got a motif 7 so I could play basslines, piano riffs, etc. into my mpc2000. So I midi the motif and mpc together . I went to midi 1A in the sequence screen of the mpc played a bassline then when I wanted to go to another track to play a different sound the first track changes to the new sound I choose in the motif.

How do I set up each individual sound I want to use to seperate midi channels on the mpc example - 1a piano, 2A strings, 3A bass, and etc.

Anyone's help and input greatly needed and appreciated
