My FL Studio MPD24 Preset - The Best!

    Hi All,

Not much around in terms of MPD24 Presets - I guess many of you never had much of a problem or have figured things out your own way.

Here I put together a preset for my FL workflow which works wonders and is split up as follows:

Pad Bank A: FPC - This is taken from the MPC2500 Preset and maps directly with the FPC so is great for laying down drums.

Pad Bank B and C: Slicex - these banks, taken from the BFD Lite Preset, allow you to play your chops/markers from SliceX in the order of your pads. This is a great way to edit your samples on the go!

Pad Bank D: Mute/Unmute - This gave me the biggest headache as I was trying to figure out how to use all my pads to mute/unmute tracks in FL. It turns out only certain cc messages can do this.

    Note 1
The easiest way to do this is to use the vyzex editor, a pretty buggy piece of software, but it wont take longer than 10-15 mins if you do it manually on your MPD24.

    Note 2
    1) Keep the Midi Channel as 1A across all pads 2)Keep all Pads as Notes 3) I have kept Play Mode as MTY and Pressure OFF - this is completely up to you if you want to use aftertouch or not.

So here are the CC values you should asssign to each pad (by Pad Bank):

    Pad Bank A: FPC
    Pad1 - CC 37
    Pad2 - CC 36
    Pad3 - CC 42
    Pad4 - CC 82
    Pad5 - CC 40
    Pad6 - CC 38
    Pad7 - CC 46
    Pad8 - CC 44
    Pad9 - CC 48
    Pad10 - CC 47
    Pad11 - CC 45
    Pad12 - CC 43
    Pad13 - CC 49
    Pad14 - CC 55
    Pad15 - CC 51
    Pad16 - CC 53

    Pad Bank B: Slicex
    Pad1 to Pad16 - CC 60 to CC 75

    Pad Bank C: Slicex
    Pad1 to Pad16 - CC 76 to CC 91

    Pad Bank D: Mute/Unmute
    Pad1 - 0
    Pad2 - 01
    Pad3 - 03
    Pad4 - 05
    Pad5 - 07
    Pad6 - 08
    Pad7 - 10
    Pad8 - 12
    Pad9 - 13
    Pad10 - 15
    Pad11 - 17
    Pad12 - 19
    Pad13 - 20
    Pad14 - 22
    Pad15 - 24
    Pad16 - 25

Hope someone makes good use of these, and hit me up if you got any questions!

I've made an own preset for the FPC with the "learn" buttons and saved that preset on the PC..

But I always had troubles with some pads on the D-bank not working for muting and unmuting.. So you say I should changes these numbers and save it to my preset on the MPD24.. and everything should work fine??

If you change the cc values on your pads to the Bank A values I specified above you won't even need your own FPC preset... you can just use the standard FPC settings.

Yes, if you assign the cc values I have for Bank D to your pads you will be able to use them all for muting/ unmuting.

Also I highly recommend that anyone apply the Bank B and Bank C cc values above - of course you can apply them in any Bank. Not just for SliceX (which is what I use them most for), but for a general scale as these are the standard FL values starting from the C5 note. Allowing you to play keyboard notes in sequence from your pads.

Let me know if you're having trouble and I might be able to help.
