So I recently bought the Akai MPK88 as a MIDI Controller for my home studio. I picked the 88, because I'm a piano player, so therefore I need the full 88 Hammer-Action keys. Thus far I really enjoy playing on it, the keys are not too heavy, and doesn't make a lot of noise as a lot of people say. However, I encounter numerous problems whenever I try to use it as a master-keyboard for either Reason 4 or Ableton Suite 8.
So for Reason 4, whenever I plug it in, and go to preferences, control surfaces, if I go to Akai --> MPK88 and configure it like that (That is because Reason can't auto-detect my MPK88), only my transport controls work (back/forward, play, stop, record) and my faders and knobs, while my keys and pads don't work. If I go to preferences and set it as "Unknown MIDI Controller" the keys and pads work, but the transport controls, faders, and knobs won't work lol. I already downloaded the Reason file on the AKAI website and it hasn't worked yet. I hate the fact that I paid a lot of money for it, while not all the controls seem to work.
In Ableton, everything works (keys, pads, knobs, faders) except the transport keys ! (I tried to set it as MMC, MIDI, CTRL, everything) since I read that Ableton only accepts CTRL signals, however that hasn't brought me any luck either.
Since the MPK61 and 88 are almost identical in driver support, I hoped that somebody that either owns the MPK61 or 88, could help me with this problem.
Thanks,
p.s So I use a Dell Studio XPS1340, Core2Duo @ 2,4GHZ, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Nvidia 9500GM
Audio Interface: ASIO4ALL 2.10
