Eps Midi Help Needed!!!

I am unable to record any midi data inro DP3.11. I currently have my Ensoniq EPS keyboard hooked up to a MOTU Midi Express XT USB and I'm trying to record some keystrokes from my keyboard, but nothing is happening. In DP3.11, the Midi Monitor window is able to recognize that midi data is trying to come in, but I am not hearing any sound or am I able to record any data into the computer. Can someone explain what settings I need to make on my EPS keyboard in order for me to send and receive midi data from my computer. Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated!

What virtual instrument in DP are you attempting to control with the EPS.

I'm loading a sound that's on a disk into my keyboard and selecting that specific sound from my patchlist I have set up in DP. What I don't get is, when I try to play a few keystrokes and record them into DP, nothing is being recorded. But, I am able to see the midi indicators light up on the midi express xt and in the midi monitor window in DP. I am wondering if I don't have something set correctly on my keyboard in order to receive midi information back from the computer. This is something completely new to me and this is why I'm turning to some of you more experienced people for help.
